Testimonials

“We had the pleasure of having Nolan perform during our cocktail hour, and he was nothing short of exceptional. His music was not only elegant but perfectly suited to the atmosphere of our wedding. Nolan has a remarkable ability to read the room, effortlessly tailoring his performance to the audience. We would highly recommend Nolan for any event!”

Noah & Shae, Summer 2024

"Nolan playing the ceremony and cocktail hour of our wedding was one of the absolute highlights of our wedding day. Leading up to the wedding, Nolan was communicative and extremely receptive to the overall vibe of music we wanted. He was even willing to learn a new song to play our first dance. All of our guests commented on what an amazing voice he had. We were sad when cocktail hour was over and he had to leave! We would highly recommend booking him for any event."

Alison & Duncan, Summer 2022

"Lovely spot and a super meal. Right by a river, sat outside. The musician tonight was absolutely superb, Nolan Hubbard. I gather he plays each Monday, I foresee a wonderful musical future for him. Highly recommended.”

Susan, The Cove Inn Summer 2024

“We could not have been happier with Nolan's performance at our wedding and his general professionalism. Multiple guests remarked they thought we were playing recorded music, as the degree of skill in Nolan's musical talents was top notch. He was communicative in the planning process, punctual, and exceedingly flexible when it came to the dynamic constraints the day of our wedding. He didn't miss a beat. 10 out of 10 will hire for our 50-year wedding anniversary.”

Matthew + Heidi, Fall 2023

"We booked Nolan to play music at our wedding this summer and couldn’t be happier about our decision. After hearing him play at a local restaurant we couldn’t stop talking about how amazing his style and sound were. A few weeks later, we finally reached out to see whether he would be available to play for us. Nolan was flexible and professional throughout the entire booking process (which involved a few emails and a phone call) and even ended up learning a song or two for us. The day of, Nolan really went above and beyond. He drove all the way to Gatineau, was well dressed and showed up early for set up and sound check before playing our bridesmaids down the aisle. Nolan did an excellent job at picking the right kind of songs at the right time and the right volume, and even took requests from our friends and family during cocktail hour. Having Nolan at our event was a huge plus for the atmosphere and we received so many compliments from guests.  Very happy we ended up going with our gut and booking him. We can only recommend you give Nolan a call and do the same!!”

Sofie + David, Summer 2023

We had so many people complimenting on what a wonderful job he did and we couldn’t have been happier. Thank you Nolan for making our wedding day so special!”

Guitar Lessons

Since 2016 I’ve been teaching private guitar and performance lessons. As a professional musician who has worked over 10 years full time as a performing artist, session player, producer and songwriter my goal has always been to offer engaging lessons and provide transferable skills that I use every day. I take what I've seen work for myself over the years, techniques I would have used from the start, lessons I’ve learned from my peers in the industry, and methods I’ve seen work with past students to find an approach that best suits each student and their specific goals.

Technique and Theory have undeniably guided me in achieving a career in the music industry. While I like to stay away from the monotonous “by the book“ approach and make sure to keep enjoyment at the forefront of my lessons, I make sure to include these building blocks for students to grow as musicians. I have taught for the Toronto based “Little Jammers” which is a program teaching full classrooms at elementary schools, as well as the Kingston based Long & McQuade (formerly Renaissance Music) summer Rock Camps and Rock Academy programs which focused on smaller group lessons in a band style setting. I have taken courses at Metalworks Institute, studied theory at an advanced level to gain admission to the Jazz Performance - Guitar program at Humber College, and have done a variety of my own private lessons over the years from teachers such as the award winning jazz guitarist Rob Tardik. With a large part of my learning being self taught over the years I also love working with students to pinpoint their specific learning style and lean into that from my experience of what’s been successful for myself and my peers in the past!

I mainly focus on teaching intermediate level guitar lessons (acoustic or electric) for musicians looking to get to the next level in their playing, but also work with advanced students on more specific targets, as well offer very broad and easily applicable lesson programs for students just starting out. All students are welcome! I’ve been very fortunate to work with folks of all levels over the years. My influence comes mainly from Blues, Pop, Reggae, RnB and Rock but have played in various collaborations over the years that have let me play a huge variety of other genres, including some years in metal bands for all the shredders out there 🤟 Some examples of the content that I offer exploring during lessons with me are:

  • Singing while playing & Live performance coaching

  • Playing to a metronome for recording and playing in bands

  • Ear training, reading chord charts, building a personal practice routine

  • Fingerstyle, Flatpicking & Alternate picking technique

  • Theory & how to use it in your playing

  • Building a personal practice routine that sticks

  • Learning covers & making them your own

  • Songwriting fundamentals, Nashville # system, Chord substitutes

  • Chord shapes/Voicings & Knowing your fretboard

  • Improvisation, Breaking through plateaus, Lick transcribing

  • How to record your own songs and guitar parts

  • Tone and Effects development

    And much more!

Students of any age or skill level are welcome, and group lessons are also an option. Every person is different in their goals on the guitar and how they learn so the aim is always to work within that as a teacher! I currently live in Kingston Ontario and am available to either offer lesson space in my private home studio, travel to your home or do virtual lessons (Zoom, Skype, Discord etc). My lesson rates start at $25/half hour or $45/hour and I am flexible to work around a schedule that’s best for you! Contact me directly at 613 583 5252 or leave me an email at nolanhubbardmusic@gmail.com if you’re interested in taking a discounted preliminary lesson together 🎸

Kingsville

Records

Kingsville Records is a simple indie label platform born from conversations between myself Nolan Hubbard (Kingston ON) and Ty Callan (“Sit Still”, Bowmanville ON) about our shared love for working with other artists on their music. Meeting through mutual peers in the Toronto music scene, we’ve been making music together now for about 3 years and through a lot of the same sensibilities in our own music, similar outlooks on life and appreciation for similar music there’s been a genuine bond of art and friendship developed here. While we both release music as artists in our own right and have so since our youth, recently Ty and I began working on my forthcoming EP and have really enjoyed the collaboration. I think the best part has been having an open and malleable sounding board to give constructive feedback and motivation through the process while never limiting my personal creativity. We both work with artists offering our own various services, so saw an opportunity to pool our resources and open it up to working with other artists that inspire us. Goal is to promote a fun and inclusive studio environment with like minded, intentional and motivated artists who share their unique skillsets and experiences to make the best, and most importantly authentic feeling music. While we do plan to release music under this platform as a label of sorts, we both agree the goal here isn’t to push any kind of creative control on an artist or their music; more a place for mutually beneficial collaborative projects to be established! You can read a little more on my website about our individual portfolios, but we both draw mutual inspiration from artists including Still Woozy, The 1975, The Strokes, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, John Mayer, Jack Johnson, Arctic Monkeys, Tom Misch, The Brook and The Bluff, Coldplay, Tommy Richman, and many more 🌺

In terms of what we are looking to do with artists, here are some services we already offer on our own both virtually and in person at our home studio locations (options to rent studio space too!):

- Songwriting Sessions
- Artist development/demoing
- Live Instrument Tracking
- Song Production & Arrangement
- Mix and/or Master
- Content & Visuals shooting/development
- Website design
and more 🎹

Also whenever applicable we love the opportunity to connect artists with other folks in our network(s) for services beyond what you see here.

Contact us by clicking HERE to get in touch and we’d love to chat about making music with you!

Cheers,

Nolan

How I Feel

NOLAN HUBBARD

Nolan Hubbard is based in Kingston ON. Growing up in the small town of Gananoque, Nolan was gifted a guitar at 11 and just fell in love. He has spent countless hours self teaching himself music production, songwriting and everything in between, as well spread his wings in the music industry after leaving home at 19 playing close to 1000 shows across Canada in his early 20s, recording his debut album in Nashville, self releasing music for radio play around the country and amassing over 13 million streams as a credited songwriter in his travels. Check out my “About” page for more!

TY CALLAN

Also known by his artist name “Sit Still”. Ty is based out of Bowmanville ON. Growing up, Ty held down the rhythm section for several touring bands from behind both the bass and drum kit. Channeling that into a self taught brand of music production on his own music over the years, eventually led to the birth of “Sit Still”, a solo project releasing music since 2023. Ty describes his solo journey as an unquenchable thirst for sick grooves; which is clearly evident in every track. Working with countless other artists in the last few years has also left Ty a formidable multi instrumentalist, writer, mix/master engineer & more. Check out more about Ty (Sit Still) & his music HERE
